For life, chaos is not a theory

The past couple of weeks have been rather busy for me. My current lease ends at the end of May, and so I have been searching for a good roommate situation. My search took me much longer than expected. I didn't end up nailing down a new place to live until earlier this week. So as you can imagine, my stress level was rather high. Thankfully, I have a place to live, and I will be moving on Monday. The bad news is, I have not finished packing yet. So my Memorial Day weekend will be very busy.

It looks like I will be spending the majority of my time in Virginia for the next few months at least, and probably the next year. But right now, it is hard to predict the future. I have serious doubts about the long-term viability of one of my contracts. Plus, I have been spending far more time pushing paper and attending meetings than I would like, and a lot less time actually getting technical work done. I suppose that is normal at this point in my career, but it still annoys me a little.

Anyways, because of my move, this will probably be my last post until June. I hope that everyone has a fantastic Memorial Day!

Hitting the bike trail

The weather was beautiful today, with crystal clear skies and great temperature. After wasting the first half of the day, I got motivated and went for a bike ride this afternoon down the Mt. Vernon trail. I have not been getting my mileage in this year on the bike, so it was good to get out and about. I'm hoping that I can start getting out on the trails a lot more over this summer.

Busy weekend

The past few days have been extremely fun, but they have also kept me very busy. A friend of mine was visiting last week, so I took Friday off to hang out with her. We started the day early in the morning (yes, there is a six o'clock in the AM) and went down to the Bureau of Printing and Engraving to see currency being made. It is an interesting process, and I don't think I have seen that much money in my life. Unfortunately, they do not allow pictures to be taken, so I don't have any pictures of it to post online.

While we were waiting to pick up our tickets to the Bureau of Printing and Engraving, I noticed that the morning sunshine reflecting off the Jefferson Memorial was absolutely beautiful. I only had my point and shoot camera with me, but I still managed to get a couple of nice photos.

On Friday afternoon, we went out hiking. We started out at Great Falls, and then went on the Potomac Heritage Trail. My favorite stream, Dead Run, was well, rather dead. The water level was several feet lower than it was during my last visit, and it looked completely different. Still, the trees and the water still made for some nice pictures.

I drove up to Pennsylvania this weekend to watch one of my cousins graduate from college. I spent the rest of the weekend hanging out with her and her boyfriend. She's totally awesome, and I always have a great time visiting her.

I spent today trying to catch up on work, errands, and life. I was pretty tired all day, and wasn't nearly as productive as I would have liked. I feel like I'm so behind on everything lately. I could really use a full week off just to catch up with my life.
