A new low for Congress

Just when you thought that the current Congress could not get any more ridiculous than it is, today Congress outdid itself. The House Subcommittee on Immigration invited Stephen Colbert to testify on the subject of immigration. Of course, Congressional committees invite celebrities all of the time to testify, in the hope of drawing attention to their committee. However, Stephen Colbert's "testimony" today was a comedic performance designed to make a political point. It was embarrassing enough that even Rep. Conyers was uncomfortable with his testimony. What's next? Perhaps a committee can invite Ronald McDonald to talk about hamburgers. Or maybe Jerry Seinfeld can have a comedy performance on doing nothing, since nothing would be preferable to the actions of this Congress.
